AGE: 16
SCHOOL: BUNYONYI PRIMARY SCHOOL
GRADE LEVEL: P.6
RESIDENCE: Mother
Benedict stays with his three siblings and his mother who is HIV positive. His mother does odd jobs like washing people’s clothes for a living. After their family’s story was featured on Bukedde TV News in July 2017, they had been sleeping in the bush. After the father’s death, the relatives learned of their mother’s status as HIV positive and they chased him out of the home. MRM was contacted, and MRM contacted an organization that’s more knowledgeable, Young People Living With HIV (YPLHIV) Uganda
The family was given a small rental home, fairly furnished, and MRM helped Benedict and his 4 siblings. It has been a challenge for him with school and his weak mother, but he is a good child and we are patient with him. He loves school and he says he prays and hopes Malayika will continue to help him finish school so he can help the homeless street children.
